Ooooooh I'm so happy!!! Mass Effect finally came out yesterday, and I went to EB so I could pick up a copy right away. I'm so thoroughly pleased with the game, too. Everything runs so smoothly. It plays like a shooter, but still feels like an RPG; it's a perfect mix. The voice acting and presentation are superb, and the loading times is so much rarer than it's made out to be in reviews. After putting 10 hours of gametime in, I've only actually had the game pause to load three times, and then only for about 2 seconds. It's seriously not a big deal. Every transition is seamless too. The Citadel (extremely huge space station "base" type thing) comprises, I would say, about 5 different levels I can think of, and I know there are more. However, there isn't a damn loading screen between any of them, and only when someone actually sees the scope of this place will they understand how big it truly is. I kinda lied, though, there are what would be loading screens between the more distinct areas. These are separated by elevators. You go into an elevator, and ride it down the next level. However, there is still not a single break in the game. The elevator ride offers time for quick npc conversations for background, or the news report comes on and that can give you a quest. The loading time is hidden in the background while you take a relaxing trip down the elevator. It's rather ingenious, and I applaud BioWare for doing it. I just wish that the reviewers could've seen it for what it was *cough*PennyArcade*cough*
Squee! I'm so happy that I finally have this because I've been salivating over its release since about 2 years ago! @_@ *shuffles off like a little schoolgirl to play more Mass Effect*

I have been watching the Next Iron Chef on Food Network recently because, well, it's awesome. Anyway, I've watched most of the series, and this week was the finale. I turned it on last night to root for my favorite chef (John Besch) because he's so awesome that he beat Mario Battali when he competed in the actual Iron Chef Kitchen Stadium. The show was in the last 10 minutes where everyone was winding down, and the judging was about to begin. Tension was running high, and then the commercial break came... in which they showed a commercial for the next episode of Iron Chef in which they were headlining who had won the competition that I was just watching. Let me say that again. They played an advertisement including the winner of the show that was currently being aired. Fuck you Food Network. I hope you get constipation from whatever shitty food you make in penance for what you did to us, and I hope you subsequently tear your assholes apart taking the shit that will brew up from said food.
In other news, I'm fucking done with school for this term!! Finals went ever-so-not-smoothly, but that was to be expected.
Plus, Mass Effect comes out in 2 days, and I'm going to fucking gorge myself on the deliciousness that is Space Opera.

This is finals week here at Knox, and I'm literally banging my head against the wall from stress. Tomorrow is my last day, and I have two finals and a paper due. I've been writing the paper since about 3pm today, which is usually more than enough time for me to pump out a superb paper. However, I can't seem to get into it this time. I'm actually almost done with the paper right now, but the problem is that I don't believe a single word that I've written so far. It's so odd for me to write something that doesn't have the whole of my being attached to it, but this just feels so inauthentic. I know I'm writing it for a grade, but dammit I just feel like a liar. That's not completely true, though... I've actually got a very valid point to make in the paper, but I've been unable to find the words to describe what I really want to say, and that's why I feel so horrible. It feels as if I'm typing, but someone else's words are coming out onto the screen. I feel so detached, but I can at least look forward to being done. In other news, I've finally decided on what my next cosplays are going to be. For Ohayocon we'll be doing a Persona 3 group, so I'm going to do either the main character, Akihiko, or Shinjiro, but I'm pretty sure I'll be doing main character. I don't want to cut my hair so short in order to do Akihiko, and I'm too pissed off to do Shinjiro right now. I'm fucking pissed at what happened to him! I'm sure you know what I'm talking about Mark. :/ After that I'll be getting to work on completing the new costume for Raphael that's been advertised for Soul Calibur IV so we can do a SC group at ACen! GRRRRR BACK TO STUPID FUCKING FINALS! Current Location: The Lair Current Mood: aggravated Current Music: The Beautiful Mistake

Holy shit, am I actually updating my Live Journal? The world must be coming to an end. *Wait for it... wait for it..* Okay, maybe not. So what has been going on in the life of the John, lately? A lot actually. I finished over at Meramec and got my Associates degree, and now I'm starting at Knox to finish my Bachelor's in Philosophy. I also decided that I might go to law school when I'm done here. That'd be a trip, right? I spent the rest of the summer working my new job as a lifeguard at the University City Heman Park Pool. That was awesome because I basically got paid to sit on my ass all day and be outside. Things with my health have been kinda shaky lately. I actually got quite sick a number of times over the summer, and that had me worried. I used to get sick a lot when I was younger, but I take better care of myself now, and I'm rarely actually sick. I'll still get upset every once in awhile, stay home to rest, and feel better the next day; but I rarely get truly sick and need medication. Right now I'm in the middle of a pretty horrid sinus infection, but that's on the upswing thanks to good old penicillin. There's also something else that I don't really want to post about right now, so if anyone wants to know, I might be willing to tell you later. I'm still coming to grips with it. Other than that, I'm at Knox right now, so I've been setting up my stuff here like crazy. The last 2 days have been spent unpacking and arranging everything in my room before my suite mates arrive later today/tomorrow. I can't wait until they show up, so I'll finally have some company here! Tags: knox, school, summer, work Current Location: The Lair Current Mood: giddy Current Music: Blaqk Audio
